Sanders Allegedly Killed a Woman with a screwdriver

Police purportedly unearthed the lifeless body of an 18-year-old woman during a search of a man’s residence who stands accused of slaying a repairman with the very tool he wielded, a screwdriver, last month.

As reported by WGN-TV, Brandon Sanders was apprehended on Thursday, June 29, on charges of first-degree murder, residential burglary, and forcible murder, relating to the demise of a 69-year-old man on May 12 in the charming Little India neighborhood of the city.

The victim was subsequently identified as Rasim Katanic, an immigrant from Bosnia who worked as an HVAC contractor, as per WLS-TV’s account.

Reportedly, Katanic was performing his duties on the roof of Tahoora Sweets & Bakery when Sanders allegedly ascended and lethally plunged the screwdriver into him.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, police discovered Iman Al-Sarraj deceased this month, her lifeless body found inside a refrigerator at Sanders’ abode in West Ridge. Allegedly, she bore the marks of a brutal beating.

Back in 2019, Sanders was reportedly arrested in Montana for allegedly coercing his wife into sex trafficking. His wife, of German origin, purportedly returned to Germany after his arrest, and the case was dropped by the judge as she did not return to the U.S. due to COVID-19 risks. Moreover, the judge seemingly did not allow her to testify against Sanders in a virtual capacity.

Before this incident, Sanders had pleaded guilty to assaulting an ex-girlfriend, having concealed himself within her car.

On the very day of Katanic’s stabbing, May 12, Sanders purportedly contacted the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center, stating his desire to “overthrow the government.” Surveillance footage allegedly showed him in a courtyard, ascending a staircase to the roof, where he reportedly took Katanic’s life.

The following day, Sanders seemingly utilized the same screwdriver from the stabbing to force entry into a college student’s apartment. Afterward, he shaved and changed his attire. As per the Chicago Sun-Times, Sanders purportedly placed his boots in the oven and left Katanic’s wallet on a table. He then made his way to a furniture store where he was employed and encountered his uncle, who became concerned and alerted the police.

Subsequently, Sanders returned to Evanston, where he requested a police officer to take him to the hospital.

During his court appearance, Sanders’ counsel purportedly attributed his actions to certain “mental state issues.”

Records from Cook County Jail reveal that Sanders is currently detained without bail.
