Something I haven’t seen commented on: Teachers express a lot of Lori’s positive qualities, but they seem to underplay the fear Lori showed at bad grades. It seemed like Lori was extremely focused on her studies due to necessity, not desire. However, as it was summertime, Lori would not have any known academic pressures.
For now, though, the community still searches in vain for Lori Paige.

Lori Paige is a Black, 12 year old girl from Tallahassee, Florida. She is a seventh grader at Griffin Middle School. She was extremely smart, focused, and studious. Her teacher said she would run between classes to make sure she wasn’t tardy. She would be distraught after getting a low test score. Her teachers said how dedicated she was to school, even to the point of not being super social as she focused on schoolwork.
Her father, Andrew Wiley, is a correctional officer and works nights (12 AM-8AM). She lived in a quadruplex apartment in a safe and quiet middle-class family neighborhood near Mission San Luis. Lori knew to go to her next door neighbor’s if she needed anything overnight. However, in the morning of June 3rd, Lori’s father came home to find their apartment empty. Lori had vanished.
The last person to see Lori was her dad the night prior. Not a single person in Tallahassee saw her around the small city. But Tallahassee is 30 minutes from Georgia; I-10 runs right through the city all the way to California. It’s not hard to get out of state quickly.
Tallahassee Police state she’s run away. But Lori’s mother disagrees; she says “there is no way” that Lori would voluntarily leave or run away. Lori is afraid of everything, including the dark. “She’s not the type to run away.” Her teachers agreed. So do child behavior experts.
Lori is uniquely hard to find due to her lack of a digital footprint. The girl had no social media, or seemingly, a phone at all. Police think this was a deliberate way to hide her location from peers and family. There was a computer in her house, but police have not examined it yet. She also had a Chromebook from her middle school, but it was returned weeks prior at the start of summer. TPD theorizes that she was lured out of the house by a stranger she may have met online. So far, no evidence of this theory has been found.
Lori had a good relationship with her father, who she only began living with in the year prior to her disappearance. Previously, Lori was in the care of her mother, Miranda Paige. In August 2022, her mother gave up custody to Lori’s dad and Lori moved to Tallahassee. Her mother was estranged from the rest of the family. One source says that a month prior to her disappearance, Lori attempted to run away, but I found no confirmation of this outside of one interview with a teacher on Nancy Grace.
The night before her disappearance, Lori and her dad spend the evening watching TV. Earlier in the day, Lori’s mother Miranda unexpectedly showed up. It upset Lori, and there was “an altercation.” Andrew called the police to remove Miranda from the property. This was an incredibly hard experience, as familial violence or police visits were alien to Lori.
Tallahassee PD has failed on informing community members about her. Community members such as Lori’s teachers and church leaders have taken up the torchand continue to run searches of the city. For many Tallahassians, we only heard about this case via Nancy Grace.
Lori’s mother thinks Lori was manipulated into leaving by a predator. (Tallahassee has some of the highest rates of sex trafficking in Florida.)
