On the evening of November 26, 2010, in the quiet town of Brembate di Sopra in Lombardy, Italy, 13-year-old Yara Gambirasio disappeared without a trace. Yara, a bright and spirited teenager, was last seen leaving the local sports center after attending a gymnastics class. When she failed to return home, her family grew increasingly worried and contacted the authorities.
Yara’s disappearance sent shockwaves through the tight-knit community, sparking a massive search effort involving local law enforcement, volunteers, and concerned residents. The search spanned days and nights, with helicopters scouring the surrounding countryside and volunteers combing through fields and forests in the hopes of finding any sign of the missing girl.
Despite the exhaustive efforts, days turned into weeks, and there was still no sign of Yara. Her distraught family pleaded for her safe return, and the entire town held onto hope that she would be found alive.
Nearly three months later, on February 26, 2011, a grim discovery shattered the community’s hopes. Yara’s lifeless body was found in a remote field approximately 10 kilometers from her home. The news sent shockwaves through Brembate di Sopra and beyond, as the reality of Yara’s murder sank in.
An autopsy revealed that Yara had been brutally murdered, but the circumstances surrounding her death remained shrouded in mystery. Italian investigators launched an intensive investigation, determined to bring Yara’s killer to justice.

However, in July 2015, a court in Brescia convicted Bossetti of Yara Gambirasio’s murder and sentenced him to life in prison. The verdict was based largely on the DNA evidence linking him to the crime.
