The Story of Karan Johar directorial Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani revolves around Rocky Randhawa (handsome Ranveer Singh) and Rani Chatterjee (talented Alia Bhat). They fall in love with each other. Their differences in culture, ideologies would clash, resulting in destroying their love. To fight for their love, the duo decided to exchange their respective families for 3 months. Rocky goes on to live with Rani’s Bengali family while Rani moves in with Rocky’s Punjabi family. Matriarch Dhanalakshmi Randhawa (Jaya Bachchan) is head of the family. How their love story survive despite the ideology clashes forms rest of the story.

This movie was a breath of fresh air after a long marathon of rubbish, poorly made, high budgeted movies.The movie doesn’t just tackle the romance and the odds of the hero and heroine. But every character of these families was interlinked. They raised a voice for their struggles. But they’re not sure if that the voices was bias. It was the best and worst at the same time.
Rocky and Rani has both Pride and Prejudice. It’s a subtle encapsulation of how people look down upon people, how we form prejudices based on past experiences and why it is important to realise our own trauma and make peace with due apologies. Every person in the movie is flawed. And growth happens with the realisation of these flaws and seeking to better one’s self through mature decisions.

The movie is extravaganza in all aspects. You can call it aesthetically colourful. The costumes, huge sets, beautiful locations, swanky cars, dance sequences, old songs in background give you a very pleasing feeling. The humour was outclass. The chemistry between Rocky and Rani was intense.
Karan Johar beautifully captured the essence of love, family and laughter making it a heartwarming experience.
Remarkable comeback of Ranveer after his last flops. He nailed his character as Rocky to the core. He put all necessary elements perfectly and purely in rich Delhi punjabi Munda. Alia as Rani was no less. She looked gorgeous and carried her character with Ranveer passionately. Both the characters are the heart of the movie.
The vintage love angle featuring Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi’s characters actually makes stands as a great backdrop for Rocky and Rani’s modern relationship. That starts off as just a fling. Jaya Bachchan, play the role of a grey-shaded matriarch, also shines.
In conclusion, “Rocky and Rani ki Prem Kahani” is a movie that deserves every bit of praise it has received.
