The movie was released on Netflix which is based on the famous comic book “The Archies”. Zoya Akhtar faced a lot of criticism before its release because launching of star kids. Yes, she introduced three kids of stars in this film Suhana Khan (Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter), Agastya Nanda (Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson) and Khushi Kapoor (Boney Kapoor and Sridevi’s daughter).

The Archies set in the 1960s whereas you will hardly find any element to make you feel that era. This is a highly unrealistic and impractical movie which has been produced just to introduce the already privileged ones.

The acting is pathetic by most of the actors. They can’t even try to connect with the audience. However, the acting of Khushi Kapoor is somewhat good in The Archies. Her dialogue delivery and expressions were much better than others. Suhana Khan is nowhere near to the legacy of her father. Agastya Nanda did not impress as well. Other children include Mihir Ahuja and Vedang Raina. Their acting is much better than these star kids.

The Archies is a music story and some songs are really good such as Sunoh and In Rahoon Mein. Others are not per expectation when you listen Shankar Ehsaan Loy at the helm of it.

Zoya Akhtar has always shown how brilliant she is with her cinema be it Dil Dhadakne Do, Gully Boy or Made in Heaven. She knows how to engage the audience to the screen. But it seemed in “The Archies” as if Zoya was not in the director’s chair. Bad acting and non engaging screenplay destroyed the movie. I can’t imagine Zoya not notice at all during the shooting.

Overall The Archies is an average movie. If you enough time to waste then watch it, otherwise skip it.
