Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One confirms that Mission Impossible is the best franchise currently going and possibly ever made. This 2 hour 45 minute adrenaline rush contains some of the best action sequences put to film. It embarrasses the majority of the competition out there. It sets the stage for a magnificent part 2 whilst still being a satisfying adventure in its own right.

This is possibly the most open and obvious a Mission series film with its deeper meaning for cinema. The aspect of Cruise’s career is being dissected this time with a film that focuses on Ethan’s relationship with women. Basically outright declares AI to be a soulless monster and how the human element is always needed.
The film opens with Ethan Hunt, (gracefully played by Tom Cruise) and his team. They are trying to track down the second half of a key. Many other people are also after the same parts of the key, but no one knows what it unlocks. This scary weapon is too power to control the whole world. So it’s pivotal point is that both halves of the key go to the right person. The entire film showcases the journey in tracking down the key.

There are so many scary and life-threatening obstacles which everyone must go through.
The stunt work is outstanding. Tom Cruise is renowned for personally handling many of the breathtaking actions. The most memorable one here is his riding of motorcycle along a cliff.
The pacing is quite unique. It feels like a sequence of thrilling short-films while still working as a whole narrative. There is an awesome momentum pulsing through every moment. I can’t imagine how they will overcome this in Part 2. But I cannot wait to find out.

.

Mission Impossible is full of epic moves, ambition, stunts, humour, brilliant new characters and sheer bravado behind the camera.
Director Christopher McQuarrie really knew what he was doing as the action scenes are absolutely incredible. Tom Cruise is one of those actors who truly go above and beyond for his films. The stunts he pulls off in this film are jaw-dropping. His stunts, together with the baffling action scenes, really add a whole new level of excitement for the viewer. This film has such an incredible cast. But of course, Tom stands out as one that always excels in his films.

.

I love the performance of Hayley Atwell who plays as Grace. Ethan meets Grace, who is also after the key. Hayley plays her role in such a way that makes it impossible to know what is coming next. She is simply unpredictable!

Simon Pegg (as Benji Dunn) and Ving Rhames (as Luther Stickell) are two fascinating actors as well. They work together beautifully on the big screen. They both carry their characters in an outstanding way.
Esai Morales is charismatic yet terrifying. Gabriel and Pom Klementieff’s terrific henchman of few words. This franchise finally has more good villains than bad.

The return of Henry Czerny as Kittridge is glorious. He remains as gleefully despicable as his first appearance.

The film is a beautifully set up. The part 2 will be coming next year…

Brilliant Watch.
