The disappearance of Alyssa Nicole Taylor is a tragic and unsettling case that has left her family searching for answers. According to reports, Alyssa, a 25-year-old mother, texted her family on September 13, informing them that she was going to travel with her friend, Danny McNeal, who was driving a truck. Around 8 p.m. on that day, the police in Northampton County encountered McNeal’s tractor-trailer, which was illegally parked in Exmore, Virginia, not far from Alyssa’s home. Alyssa was inside the truck at the time, while Danny had gone to a friend’s house. The officer briefly spoke to Alyssa before Danny returned. After giving him a warning, the officer allowed them to leave, ensuring they got back on the road safely.
Tragically, around 2:00 a.m. on September 14, Danny and his dog were involved in a fiery crash while driving south on Interstate 85 in Hillsborough, North Carolina. The crash resulted in his death, and the subsequent autopsy revealed that acute ethanol intoxication, with a blood alcohol level of .32%, was a contributing factor. However, only one body was found at the crash scene, raising questions about Alyssa’s whereabouts.
Alyssa’s family learned about the crash and Danny’s death through social media, leaving them distraught. They went to the wrecking yard in North Carolina where the truck was taken and found Alyssa’s blanket among the wreckage. They also discovered an earring in a nearby storm drain and a flip-flop shoe believed to belong to Alyssa.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol informed the family that they were 99.9% certain Alyssa was not in the truck during the crash. Despite this information, Alyssa’s mother, Krista, has come to accept the belief that her daughter died in the accident. However, other family members, including Alyssa’s aunt, Shelly Payton, have doubts and believe that further investigation is needed. Payton mentioned that Danny was on the phone with his girlfriend for three hours before the accident, which has raised suspicions.
The family has expressed frustration over the lack of communication from law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, regarding Alyssa’s case. They feel let down and have experienced emotional turmoil during family gatherings and occasions where Alyssa’s absence is deeply felt.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol has concluded its investigation into the accident and provided the results to the Sheriff’s Office. They state that their role is focused on the accident itself and assisting with inquiries related to it.
